This is a picture that I took of an angel amongst the leaves. I really like the composition and the color of the leaves. Green and yellow are the colors of nature. The angel is gray, which is a depressing color, but the bright colors of the leaves represent hope in this little delicate gray creature. Earth is surronding him and benefitting him in his life. :)

Yellow Wallpaper Picture

I took this picture because it represents a failing marriage. The red symbolizes pain, hurt and anger. The ring, which is a shade of blue, was meant to symbolize depression, but when I was adding the red, it became faded. I really like the picture. Oh! And the pearls represent innocence, which is what the woman is. She is innocent, but forced into a hurtful marriage. She goes crazy since her husband is not paying attention to her. The lock symbolizes, as well, that she cannot find the key to unlock her marriage until the very end, when she breaks out of her wallpaper and is free!

Color Pictures...

The first one, which is of myself in the cemetary, has a somber mood and is called Sorrow's Angel, which is exactly what it means. The whole picture is mostly gray, exception is of myself. I blurred the background, which is what I wanted for your eye tends to go towards the center more than the background. The white skirt represents innocence because no one intends sorrow to happen. It usually just happens and to whom it happens to is ususally just an innocent person. The black symbolizes darkness, which is what most people associate with in a cemetary. I had to blur out the name of the statue for that is against the law to have, so I just blurred it. I really like the picture. It has a great composition, hence the dark and somber mood.

The second picture, which is of the tree and water, was taken at Nature Hill. The leaves, which I made more red, are a sign of anger. This tree was here first, but as it appears, it looks like it is going to fall over soon. It looks like it has a lived a good life, but it has grown old, and it now keeling over and dying. It is upset about this. It wants to keep living its life. Also, the water, which is a deep darkish black blue, is meant to symbol depression. The tree is depressed. I made the water darker than it was.

Lamp and Dishes

I really like the picture of the lamp, but couldn't use it for color balancing since it really doesn't have a complete white, which is crucial for color balancing. Anyway, I was just taking pictures around my house and found the lamp lit and thought, "This would make a great picture." I just enjoy it because it has a somber mood, but in the background, it is also like energetic. The colors, how they are deep, make it somber and kinda depressing, but then, the light, since it is bright, I think that makes it like a heart full of energy. This is an attractive picture. I love the colors and just the way the beads make your eyes follow the pattern. I think that it is a great picture, however, it is kinda in the middle, so that would make it not appropriate for the Rule of Thirds. I would have to change that a tad to make it better. But overall, I think that it is a great picture.

The dishes picture is meant to be a repulsive picture, but I think it does look kinda attractive. I was again just taking pictures around the house and came upon the pile of dishes that were drying and thought that they look cluttered and messy, so I took a picture. But as I was color balancing it, just to make it better, I came to realize that it is rather an attractive picture. I love all the colors and how the reds from the bowls draw your eyes there first and then around to the other colors. I also really love how almost all the dishes are in the same color range and the mood is almost a cluttered, yet happy feel, almost how life is. Anyway, I just really enjoy this picture and think that it has great colors and a great mood.

Critiques of Attractive/Repulsive Pics

Flowers on a lovely day-

I believe that enhancing the color on this picture really showed through in the orange flower. I added a lot of blues and greens, which darkened the little flowers in the background, making the back of the picture calm and then, moving towards the front really loud. When I was creating the colors for this picture, I was having a little bit of trouble since I couldn't get it to what I imagined it would look like. However, I soon played around with it and discovered that if you add a lot of blues and greens, the front colors will pop out even more because the orange didn't really get changed. It only really was darkened. I think the mood stands out that sometimes you can be sad or lonely, but soon, when that keeps past you, you will be bright and bubbly, just like the orange flower. I think this is really a good picture and it expresses creativity since you have to look deep into the picture in order to understand what it being portrayed. I think it is a lovely picture that has a great theme and lovely colors. I also believe that it has movement and harmony since the viewer has to look from the front to the back to understand and harmony because it flows so well together.

Little Flowers against the Weed-

I took this picture not realizing what a great picture it could become. I was really just taking pictures for fun outside when I cam upon this little flower and then I almost stepped on the weed with my barefoot. Luckily I didn't. Anyway, I thought that this would make a great picture because it is emphasizing that beauty, in nature, overpowers this ugly weed. But in a way we must also say that the weed is beautiful. The theme is everything is beautiful, you just need to stand back and look again to see the magnificence. The weed is all prickly, ugly, green, but if you look at it awhile, it becomes to be pretty. A pretty weed. I played around with the greens and blues again. Apparently, I don't like adding in the yellows. Anyway, I played around with those colors to make everything dark, except the flowers. The viewer will look there first and say, "Oh, what a pretty flower." Then, their attention will be turned to the weed. They may think it is ugly, but in a way again, its pretty. I believe that I have enhanced it, making it a better picture. It has great little elements all tucked underneath the picture and the viewer just has to look at it. Such as it has proportion. The weed and the flowers are the same size, but different objects, representing different things. It is my repulsive picture, but when you look at it for a while, you will notice that it becomes almost pretty. Just look at it...see, it is pretty. :)
